You are required to bring along:
- A (one) passport size photograph,
- 450 Rubles (for processing a so-called “medical booklet”)
- RESO card (MOST IMPORTANT! – For those of you who did not manage to get your card, call MosLanka and get you Reso card No. and give them to the lady at the hospital counter).
- A photocopy of your student’s card
- Pen (for writing, you don’t want to be scolded by the babushka for borrowing her pen)
- Passport or ‘spravka’; and
- Please go on empty stomach
These are a few things that you need to know for the medical checkup.
Go earlier to register at the front counter. The counter will open around 8 or 8.30am. If you are later, you might find yourself stuck at a long queue with the locals cutting queue. Show your Reso card at the counter. They will give you two “talon” and a white booklet.
Next, wear a “bakhili” before you go in. They are free at the coat room counter.
Next, go to 3rd floor, room 307, find a old lady and pass the white booklet to her and she will write something in it. Then, she will tell you to go to the next room to sign something (some sort of permission to draw your blood). After signing the permission, the babushka will give you a paper with all the tests, but you don’t need to do everything, just these four things:
- General blood analysis
- Hepatitis viruses, HIV etc. blood test
- CXR
- Consult a therapist
The sequence of these tests is really depends on you. But it is advised that to do the both blood tests (No. 1 and 2) first and save No. 4 for the last one.
- For the so-called “General blood analysis”, go to 4th floor, room 418. Here, a needle prick at the tip of your finger will be done and some blood will be taken. Make sure you warm your hands first, if not, they will call you to warm it on the heater and make you line up again. Here, they will take one of “talon” and the “permission” from you.
- Next, go to 1st floor, room 104 (not confirmed), to draw some blood from your arm.
- Then, go to the 11th floor, the first x-ray room for CXR. This will take quite a long time and a long queue as the locals will line up their “way”. Don’t be surprise that they will cut queue also. So, make sure you stay there (or at least for one is there for you when you are not around). A lot girls are worry that being exposed when doing the CXR. Although the first thing you need to do is to take off your top body clothes, but don’t worry, you will be the only one in the x-ray room/changing room. One of the technicians (only two in the control room and both of them are ladies when I get mine done) just need to come in and clean the x-ray plate and position you properly, other than that, they will be sitting in another room, minding their own business. There are also a screen to block them from seeing you. Take a deep breath in and hold while they are doing the x-ray.
- Next, go to 3rd floor again, the room beside you sign the “permission”, to see a physician/therapist. There, they will ask you a few questions, like, do you have any complaints, any chronic diseases, any allergy etc. B/P will be take, lungs and heart will be auscultated. Here, you will need to take off your top clothes again, but again, there’s nobody there except for you and the doctor.
After completing everything, you will need to do a so-called “medical booklet”, dark blue in colour. Leave the hospital building, while back towards the direction of “Kievskaya” metro station, but just before you reach the junction of the road, you will see green-coloured gate at your right. There’s the place you should go in. Open the gate, you will see a building in front, on your left hand side.
Go to that building, go to 2nd floor and you will see the office, take a form and fill it up (there’s only one type of form on the table). Line up and wait for your turn. A lady will key in the particulars. Give them your photo and photocopied student card. Then, go to the cashier just behind her and pay 450 Rubles and place the receipt back to her. Then, wait until someone call you to confirm your particulars and wait again until the booklet is ready.
Next, go back to the hospital, go to 3rd floor again and put the white booklet and the “medical booklet” together into a box provided (on the table near the nurse station) and you are done.
